Time goes fast we all know that.
We also know that when we are having fun time goes fast and when we want to do something else, time is slow.
Time, what a weird concept.
When you record yourself you think you are talking slow when in actual fact your talking like you can't catch your breath, like you have somewhere important to be.
Time is unpredictable.
A meeting may say that it will finish at 1pm when in actual fact it finishes at 1:20pm. You think you have be reading for 5 minutes when you have been reading for 20.
Time is three things, Past, Present and Future.
Three things which we can either not change, not see or not be in. But we can learnt, understand and create the past, present and future.
The past, a memory.
A memory of either an hour ago or a memory of 3 year old you playing in the garden. The past we cannot change but we can learnt from. Even if you don't understand how to learnt from a memory, you know how to handle the outcome next time. What you felt, why you felt that way and what made you feel like that. All things which we can learn from.
The present, a step before the future.
To step into the future you must first understand your placement in the present. Be in the moment, look, feel, touch, smell, taste the things around you and breathe. Your mind can wonder into the past and the future, but you will still be in the present.
Future, the present's child.
The present creates the future. The future is created and formed by what you do in the present time, all of your actions create the next up and coming action, the future. The future is like an unsolvable maths equation. One foot plus one step equals? tripping or stepping? It equals the future.
The past, present and future. All concepts of time itself, it is what makes time. When the clock's handles move one centimetre to the right from the curved black shape of the number 2. No one know's if that clock will reach the three or four, the clock could stop working before it can move another centimetre. But that is the future. The present is now, you reading each and every single letter on this screen, your brain taking all of these letters and forming them into words to create a sentence. To create a story, to create information. To create the present. The past, well that was three sentences before.
Why I wrote this, I do not know. Why you read this, I also do not know. But what I do know is that we both used our time to read about time and what time is.

Time goes by so fast. I wish I could rewind the clock sometimes, but then again everything in my past is what got me here now.
ReplyDeleteTo true, we should never have any regrets in life
DeleteI have noticed that as I have gotten older, and started having kids, time seems to go by much quicker! So it is important to cherish our time and really enjoy it and live in the moment.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely we should all enjoy and live in the moment :)
DeleteI agree, time is a blur. It's just so fast. One moment you have a baby, the next they are graduating high school. (current situation) And the older I get, the faster it goes.
ReplyDeleteAwww I wish them all the best after school :)
DeleteI try not to think about time itself...I try to make each moment meaningful or productive. I particularly don't dwell on the past, unless I am thinking about how cute my kid was!
ReplyDeleteAww cute! I also try to be productive all the time but it is something I am working on d:
DeleteI sometimes wish I could go back to being a little kid. Time seemed so slow and in a way that was agonizing. I remember my mother going out and saying she'd be back in an hour and I though she'd never return. But I think things seem to spin by so fast these days. I miss time seeming endless.
ReplyDeleteYes I totally understand that, but as our lives get busier thats what happens I guess that is why we all go on holidays to slow down time
DeleteTime definitely goes by fast! We are almost in May!! This is crazy! I remember celebrating the new year like it was yesterday. Sometimes I wish it would slow down.
ReplyDeleteYeah it is crazy to think how fast this year has gone by
DeleteTime has moved so fast for me after having kids. It just slips away and I have no recollection of it even! Like I blinked my eyes and hours turn into seconds!
ReplyDeleteWow, yeah I guess thats what happens when our lives get busier and when we live a happy and enjoyable life :)
DeleteThis is a really interesting way to think about it. I know we all know how time works, but we let it slip away from us and sometimes waste it. I need to work a bit better on my time management.
ReplyDeleteSame with me, I procrastinate most times when I should be working
DeleteThe one thing that we cannot control in our lives is time. Whether we get things done or we don't, time marches on. That is important to remember because when it comes to happiness, if you race against time, you are going to lose.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have said it better myself, so true
DeleteTime is an interesting concept. It has so many different meanings from the numbers on the clock to the days or years that have passed.
ReplyDeleteYep, time is definitely interesting and we all do have different meanings of time
DeleteI don't know why but this post makes me think off all the songs about time. I guess we are all obsessed with the fleeting hands of time.
ReplyDeleteVery true, we all have our different meanings of time and how we express our meaning of time
DeleteWhen I was a kid and at school, time was going so slow and I couldn't wait to get older and become independent and now that, I' older and independent, I wish time to stand still, so that, I can enjoy each moment more. Time is weird.
ReplyDeleteI feel the exact same I wanted to grow older so quickly when I was little but I now just want to enjoy each moment at a time
DeleteTime does go by fast. With having kids it seems to go by even faster. Sometimes I'd wish it would slow down to really enjoy every moment.
ReplyDeleteMany people feel the same way :)
DeleteI don't think about time. Not like this anyway. All I know is that I don't have enough.
ReplyDeleteSince having my son and working on my biz full time I am noticed how fast time really does past by! Great post. :)
ReplyDeleteLike the perspective. I agree time sure flies, specially when you have kids. I already miss my son's babyhood he is turning into a smart boy.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about how fast time passes, and you can't get it back. For me, it feels like April 1st was not too long ago, and here it's almost the end of it.
ReplyDeleteI just watched Collateral Beauty and have been thinking about time a lot lately. What a beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteTime is always so elusive. Sometimes it feels like it is going to fast and others too slow.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to say, "Time waits for no man." Now that I have my own family, I understand clearly what she meant by this.
ReplyDeleteTime will keep moving and that's why it's better to be in the present than to keep trying to be one step ahead. This post made me reflect on what I've been doing with my time.
ReplyDeleteTime does fly by quickly, sometimes it makes me feel like I am running out of time to do all the things I want to do. Honestly I just really try to enjoy like and every minute of counts.
